አስደንጋጭ ዜና በኢትዮዽያ 15 million ህዝብ የአይምሮ በሽተኞች ይገኛሉ

ኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ 15 ሚሊዮን የአዕምሮ ህሙማን መኖራቸውን የአማኑኤል ሆስፒታል ባልደረባ የሆኑት ዶ/ር ዓለም አታላይ አስታወቁ። ይህ ደግሞ ኢትዮጵያ በዓለም ላይ ከፍተኛ የአዕምሮ ህሙማን ካላቸው ሀገሮች ግንባር ቀደም ያደርጋታል። አብዛኞቹ የአዕምሮ ህሙማን ተገቢውን የህክምና ዕርዳታ የማያገኙ ሲሆን፤የህመማቸውም መንስዔ በወያኔ ዘረኛ አገዛዝ በተለያየ ጊዜ ከደረሰባቸው ከቤት፣ ከንብረት፣ ከሥራና ከትምህርት ገበታቸው በግፍ መፈናቀላቸው መሆኑ ይታመናል።

There are 15 mentally ill persons and people exposed to metal illness in Ethiopia, the Addis Ababa University Medical Faculty said.

Dr. Ataly Alem, a physician working with the Amnuel Mental Illness Specialized Hospital, said there are 15 million people who need medical treatment in Ethiopia.

He made the remark while addressing a crowd gathered here on Saturday to observe World Mental Illness Day.

The day was marked by the Hospital, the World Health Organization, the Ministry of Health and the National Mentally Ill Persons’ Care Association.

Dr. Atalay said there also 450 million mentally ill persons in the world.

Speaking on the occasion, the Manager of the Hospital Dr. Tsehaynes Gebre-eyesus, said the hospital has been engaged in the expansion of health facilities treating mental illness.
